Description of committees
Pickett’s Mill is looking for volunteers
for the following committees.

Bingo/Movie night- responsible for planning and getting volunteers
Book Fair- responsible for helping the book fair during the year. Volunteers are needed for set-up and sales before and after school.
Box tops/soup labels and Kroger/Publix cards- Will gather and redeem tops and labels monthly or bi-weekly. Coordinates the distribution cash/Publix and Kroger cards to Pickett’s Mill parents and assists in activities to increase the awareness of the program throughout the school year.
Candy Grams- PTA sells Candy Grams that the students can send to their friends. Volunteers are needed to sell, assemble and distribute to classes
Chicken biscuit sales- help organize and coordinate the weekly biscuit sales.
Community Outreach- teaching students the importance of helping others in the community through various charitable drives.
Hearing and Vision-responsible for the mandatory screening of students hearing and vision.
Hospitality – organizes and hosts special events for our school . Volunteers will help with food, refreshments and decorations.
Media Center-coordinates volunteers to work in the media center and our book fair.
Newsletter- help put the monthly newsletter together with the PTA board.
PTA membership –help with membership drives and help distribute cards.
Public relations- provide monthly articles and photos to local papers with input from the committee’s chair.
Reading program- helps bring reading programs to Pickett’s Mill.
Recycling-increase awareness by holding recycle drives.
Red Ribbon Week-assists in coordinating events for the anti-drug campaign for the students in the fall.
Reflections- This is a cultural arts program sponsored by the National PTA. All students are encouraged to participate and enter their art, literature, music and photography work. Awards will be given in four categories at local, state and national levels.
School directory – help coordinate school wide or class by class directory.
Spirit wear –coordinates the selling of Pickett’s Mill logo clothing and gear.
Science Fair – help coordinate fair and students projects. Work with Tom Mathis council.
Spring Fling-help plan and organize volunteers, vendors for Spring Fling.
Teacher Appreciation –Helps in organizing and helping with teacher appreciation week
Watch D.O.G.S.- Dads of great Students volunteer in the school and classroom to be positive influences in a child’s life.
